About Role

As a BIM / CAD Technician at LMG, you’ll play a key role in the design and delivery of Smart Building technology solutions across a wide range of projects.

This role focuses on producing high-quality 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and Revit, supporting structured cabling, security systems (CCTV and access control), audio-visual systems, and wireless network infrastructure. You’ll work closely with project teams, designers, and stakeholders to develop coordinated BIM models and technical drawings that meet both client requirements and industry standards.

You’ll also contribute specialist design support including WiFi heatmap surveys and CCTV field-of-view optimisation, ensuring systems are designed for performance, coverage, and long-term operational success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Revit for structured cabling, security, and AV systems.
  • Develop coordinated BIM models, including COBie outputs, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Design structured cabling routes, containment systems, cable tray layouts, and pathways.
  • Prepare layouts for security systems including CCTV and access control.
  • Support audio-visual system integration designs.
  • Carry out clash detection, coordination, and model reviews to ensure constructability.
  • Perform WiFi heatmap survey designs using industry-standard tools (e.g. Ekahau) and generate supporting reports.
  • Design CCTV camera layouts and optimise field of view using specialist software.
  • Measure pre-terminated cable lengths using rapid deployment and cable measurement software.
  • Provide technical documentation and drawings to support projects, bids, and small works.
  • Maintain and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, engineers, and external stakeholders.
  • Organise and manage CAD and BIM files in line with company standards and best practice.

  • Proven experience using AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Revit (3D).
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, IT infrastructure, security systems, and audio-visual technologies.
  • BIM knowledge and experience working within coordinated project environments.
  • Experience or interest in WiFi heatmap survey design and CCTV field-of-view planning.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
