LMG is Calling for Change in Construction – Join Us…

We are Announcing the ‘LMG Hard Hats & Open Minds Charity Walk’

As we mark our 40th anniversary, we are launching a new industry initiative to build the foundations for cultural change across the construction industry and beyond: The Hard Hats & Open Minds Charity Walk.

Taking place on 25th June 2026 in Central London, the walk brings the industry together with a clear call to action: for men to step forward as allies and help to create a more inclusive and attractive career destination for women – ultimately playing our part in helping to tackle the UK’s epidemic of violence against women and girls.

Building the Foundations for Change
This initiative is about collective responsibility. By bringing people together, men and women, the walk aims to encourage accountability, challenge behaviours and support more inclusive working environments and a safer society as a whole.

At its core is a simple message: Walk. Talk. Commit. Change.

The route will take participants across Central London, passing 10 of LMG’s current or former construction sites, reinforcing the role our industry plays in shaping not just buildings, but culture.
Commenting on the initiative, Mike Hook, Executive Director at LMG, said: “This really does matter and it’s time we unite to act. Creating a more attractive and inclusive industry for women is about shifting public perception and requires collective responsibility. This initiative is about bringing people together to take meaningful steps towards that change.”

A Collective Industry Effort
We are calling on organisations across construction to:

  • Encourage employees and supply chains (particularly men) to take part
  • Raise awareness of the need for change across the industry and beyond
  • Support fundraising

Funds raised will support Killed Women, a charity supporting families affected by male violence.

Participants and supporting organisations will also benefit from:

  • Access to a ‘Gold Standard’ corporate domestic abuse, harassment and stalking policy for their us
  • Access to specialist workplace domestic abuse training, helping teams recognise and address warning sign
  • Access to the WalkSafe app to support vulnerable employees when outside the immediate workplace

The walk is supported by WalkSafe, the UK’s leading personal safety app, which combines journey-sharing features and a national Safe Space map. WalkSafe are kindly geofencing our route on the day.

Part of Our 40th Anniversary
This initiative forms part of our 40th anniversary, a milestone that reflects not just on our past and progression, but on our responsibility to help shape a better, more inclusive future for the industry and society as a whole.
